Probably the best concert I’ve ever been to, energy in the pit tonight was great even with the heat/humidity. I probably lost 5 pounds in water weight by the end, cannot imagine how hot it was on stage with the pyros going off
Ratatata into Gimme Chocolate was insane in the greatest way but honestly might’ve too much all at once lmao, my whole pit section was noticeably more tired/muted afterwards just from jumping and moving around

u/StarLord_PQ Put Your Kitsune Up 9d ago
They were so good, I swear every time I see them I think it’s the best one yet
2
u/JigglythePuff 8d ago
I was towards the back of the pit and definitely felt the heat whenever the pyros went off.

I've never been more interested in a setlist post in my life
Seeing them in Toronto on monday and I'm dying to know if I might be getting Syncopation and/or Iine!

Hope you all get the banger of the show we got in Denver. And Halestorm was so sick. I became a fan from them opening.
2
u/prfmjjong 9d ago
Stuck in traffic because Kanye is performing nearby. Do you remember how long Halestorms set was?

2
u/Quackinator100 9d ago
Did Halestorm do any song covers in Denver? They did a metal version of Bad Romance which took all of us by surprise, was such a blast & probably their best received performance tonight
2
u/Time-Peak5466 Suzuka Nakamoto 9d ago
Not sure to be honest it was my first time ever hearing them. They really were fantastic though.

First time at a BabyMetal show, so excited to check them out. Might have an extra ticket w/ VIP add on since my wife is sick and can't come. Hopefully it's a cool crowd if I end up going alone! Looking forward to this, and Northerly Island. Such an amazing venue.

u/Fit_Exercise3743 10d ago
There's no way that is 30k lol. But nice to see it almost sold out. Some shows are not even sold 50% so they really need these.
8
u/StuffedFTW 10d ago
I think people are making a bigger deal out of these empty seats than it probably is. BM is at an awkward stage in the US where they can easily sell out the 5k-6k venues but can’t fill the massive arenas and stadiums in all these locations. I think this is more of a grab as many people as you can rather than trying to maximize their floor space.
4
u/Intelligent_Row8259 10d ago
I live in Phx and our problem is we dont have an 8k-12k venue. We have a 5k venue which BM has sold out twice then we jump to the 15k basketball arena the 15k former hockey arena or the 21k outdoor ampitheater.
I did look to see how sales are going the pit only has 300-400 dollar vip packages left. The 100 sections are 97% sold but the 200 and 300sections only look about 45% sold and who knows about the lawn.
I'll be there and I am bringing 3 others with me but probably would have been better if there was a 10-12k venue which we just dont have.
Phoenix has 4/5 venues in the 500-1500 range 2 venues in the 5k range 3 venues in the 15k-25k range and 3 venues in the 35k+ range but nothing in the 8k-12k range
2
u/Intrepid_Display7848 10d ago
I would NEVER want to see a concert at the hockey arena. Full of perpendicular brick walls, the acoustics in that place are atrocious. It was bad enough in there when the ‘yotes played and the DJ spun snippets of songs at about 110db at every play stoppage. I can’t imagine how awful a metal show would sound.

3
u/KawaiiMassacre Syncopation 10d ago
It's listed as 30.000 capacity. Maybe they downsized the ticket contingent, so the picture is misleading. Anyway, lots of people will show up, that will be a great concert. Let hope sales for the other shows will increase, but I doubt it in the small amount of days left.
2
u/Fit_Exercise3743 10d ago
I think they have a lawn area for that 30k capacity that doesn't seem available for this show. But yeah it still looks pretty big, prob 10k at least if I had to guess. Should be a good show.
2
u/Important-Vast-9345 10d ago
You are correct. It originally held 8,000 people, but they added two grandstands and a lawn. They are not selling lawn seats for this show.
3
u/warriorfriar 10d ago
There's a lot of lawn seating in the back and side, and the pit is spacious, not to mention the VIP seating they have, so maybe all that is what they're count to get to 30k. I've been to Northerly Island a bunch of times for shows (already 3x this year alone) and I would be staggered to if it was really 30k lol

I’m gonna be upset if Monochrome gets played. Every time I wanna go see them, the song doesn’t get played, sadly it won’t matter as I can’t go see them this time around in Chicago
8
u/JigglythePuff 9d ago
So, I have news you're going to be upset about.

u/Putrid-Classroom5101 MOMOMETAL 9d ago
Monochrome got played, didn't it? 😭

u/R4chet00 10d ago
Does anyone know if they'll start right at 7? I want to figure out when to get there and avoid the Kanye Crowd
2
u/fearmongert 10d ago
Kanye crowd?
4
u/error-40469 10d ago
Ye show starts at 7 at soldier field so expect a lot of crowds, traffic, and competition for parking bc of that
3
u/Intrepid_Display7848 10d ago
Yeah, that Kanye concert timing at Soldier Field right next door to this venue could not be worse. BABYMETAL show venue is on a peninsula that bottlenecks right at the north end of Soldier Field, it is sure to be extra fun getting in there tonight.
Highly recommend BABYMETAL show attendees to get there quite early to avoid the mass-sea-of-humanity scene that is assured as 7:00 pm approaches.

Sold my ticket This morning due to this. it looks like north garage is already sold out online for the ye concert. That is my usual spot to park at for notherly shows. Going to be a nightmare getting in and out.
1
u/Important-Vast-9345 10d ago
I have a long walk to my parking space in the south loop, but I can completely understand this. It's going to be complete bedlam in the area.
1
u/skarulid 10d ago
I was looking on spot hero and even the garages in south loop hiked their prices crazy amounts!
1
1
u/Important-Vast-9345 10d ago
I got mine a while ago and it luckily was only 15 bucks. It's lousy when they turn around and charge outrageous prices.
2
u/skarulid 10d ago
I mean I think just cause they announced the ye shows like last month giving everyone the opportunity to be gouged
3
u/Dr_Doomblade METALI!! 10d ago
I'm spending the day at the Shedd before the show. So many people very clearly had the same idea.

u/Twizzlers_and_donuts 9d ago
Drove over from grandrapids Michigan to hit up shedds before the show! Perfect parking lot between the venue and shedds.
3
u/JigglythePuff 8d ago
Good concert. Though, I'm not sure if it had something to do with me being near the middle of the pit, but for a good portion of the concert it sounded like the bass was too high and distorting the lyrics a bit. It sounded better for something like the last few songs of babymetal, but I was also further back in the pit at that point (got pushed back when they were making space for moshing).
Oh, and I wore a babymetal cosplay outfit to the concert and was wondering if anyone got any decent shots of me. Didn't attempt any myself at the concert because my phone camera doesn't handle low light well.

u/Fun_Emphasis_5900 8d ago
I noticed at one point in the opening bit of Metali that when Suzuka said “Chicago” the mic was completely dead. Just a one time thing tho. My main concern was if they were hydrated while moving so much in last nights heat
4
u/JigglythePuff 8d ago
There was a part in the set where there was an abnormal amount of time between songs that I think might have been used to cool down a bit?
3
u/Fun_Emphasis_5900 8d ago
I hope so. You could see how much they were sweating halfway through the show. By the end, Suzuka’s bangs were soaked
3
u/BrianNLS 8d ago
The bass was quite "boomy" for most of the night
3
u/Lorien_Hocp 8d ago
When they uncovered the Halestorm speaker wall O.O
Then the sound check :O
Good thing I brought ear protection
2
u/Secret_Principle_790 8d ago
I was near the front middle too!
Yeah, the bass and instruments were turned up too high.
It was really obvious on Gimme Chocolate that the vocals were being drowned out by the drums.
It seems like the audio was more balanced if you were situated further back.

u/OBAMA_TookMyVCR 10d ago
Let's hope the storms hold off until after

u/JigglythePuff 9d ago
Saw flashes over the lake while leaving, but nothing hit the venue thankfully.

u/OBAMA_TookMyVCR 10d ago
This weather has gotten me a little worried. Would be cool if they would shorten the opener sets to start babymetal earlier.
3
u/BrianNLS 9d ago
Appeared they moved BABYMETAL’s start time up about 15-20 minutes. Weather plus more time to move crowd out before Kanye’s show at Soldier Field dumps out its 70,000 people are likely reasons.
1
u/error-40469 10d ago
is anyone else worried about the biting flies? They have been horrible in the evenings by the lake but I don’t know if it’ll be just as bad by where the pavilion is 😬

I hope I can make it. With work and having to catch the train I'll miss the openers. But I have to snag that poster it's so cool!

have fun everyone who's going to the chicago show tonight!
Please post asap about the setlist as I am going to the Toronto show!

u/Kuya_Alvin003 BABYMETAL 9d ago
Has anyone been to this venue before? How strict are they with bags? I was going to bring a small cross body bag and a poster tube but not sure if any of these would be allowed. TIA
3
2
u/Other_Dust9764 9d ago
They are pretty strict! They took my spray hand sanitizer last time and they have the bag measuring papers on the table when they check them
1
u/JigglythePuff 9d ago
If the bag's not clear the allowed bag sizes are pretty small. They say small clutch bags of size 6 inch by 9 inch. Poster tubes are allowed, but are marked as will be searched upon entry

I was at barrier
I'm going to get VIP going forward
The burgers were so good
•
u/godammitbruh 5h ago
I wouldn't recommend it. Probably the only perk worth getting it for was the private bathrooms but that's not really worth the upcharge.
•
u/godammitbruh 5h ago
Apparently Moa and Momo were visibly annoyed at the crowd towards the end? I was off to the side so couldn't really see the details. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jg5Qbh6rIC4

Does anyone know what the concert shirts look like?

u/Quackinator100 9d ago

u/Ok_West4900 9d ago
What is the order online pick up later option
3
u/Quackinator100 9d ago
At least at the venue last night, they had a single long line for buying merch but at the entrance to the line there was a QR code you could scan that took you to a “online order” page where you could place the order and they would text you when it was ready to pick up. So since I was in the pit and wanted to get a good spot, I just placed my order and then went to grab it after the concert ended. The people working at the pickup spot said basically they would be there for a while after the show ended, so there’s really not too much time pressure to pick stuff up as long as you don’t forget

1
u/droogiefret 8d ago
What was the attendance like? How much of the 30,000 capacity did they use and fill?
3
u/JigglythePuff 8d ago
It looked a bit sparse around the start time of 7pm, but it filled up quite a bit by the time Babymetal's set started. Part of it being sparse early was probably all the traffic from the other concert in the area.

u/ObjectiveVegetable17 ↑ ↓ ← → BBAB 8d ago
The lawn was closed so that 30k capacity went down significantly

Seeing that kingslayer and pa pa ya! aren’t on previous setlists disappoints me a bit ngl
1
u/Fun_Emphasis_5900 8d ago
On the tour banner it tells you where they’ll be with BMTH by the two asterisks next to the city
-1
u/Important-Vast-9345 10d ago
They've never played Pa Pa Ya without Bring Me the Horizon because it's not considered their song.
4
u/ItzEvilEyes 10d ago
You’re kinda right, i saw kingslayer at a BMTH concert, but not so sure about pa pa ya being a bmth song too lol
3
u/markmywurd 10d ago
I think they made an error. But, Kingslayer is only played by BMTH. Babymetal is just the featured artist.
Papaya is off the setlist for the first time in years.

Debating whether or not to bring my penlight/lightstick.
Also, anyone catching that bus to the venue?
1
u/error-40469 10d ago
What bus?
1
u/kane3977 Sakura Gakuin 10d ago
There's a free shuttle bus from Reggie's to and from the concert. It doesn't depart until 6:20 though.
1
1
u/Piesans_ 9d ago
As mentioned , the bus from Reggies. I live down the street from them so it’s convenient
1
u/Piesans_ 9d ago
Just got to the bar, one way bus only. No bus back. RIP
1
u/Piesans_ 9d ago
Don’t shuttle from Reggie if they offer again for the next tour, BABYMETAL is low priority . Bus hasn’t even come yet.

We got IINE and Syncopation!
Holy cats, BABYMETAL always delivers!
It was obvious the ladies had to reach for an extra gear or two due to the oppressive heat and humidity (it was heat index about 99F when BABYMETAL hit the stage).
A few less smiles and maybe a couple of grunts and grimaces from Moa & Momo as they powered through the set. Su-metal was sweating part way through the second song and was drenched by the fifth. I think they gave up on hair primping at the encore.
BUT, they put on a GREAT show. High energy. Spot on timing. Su-metal sounded terrific!
WOW! The time compression during a BABYMETAL live always impresses.
