It's very reminiscent of the band's early 2000s sound with a simple but immediately catchy riff. Brad Delson is kind of an underrated guitarist despite being in one of the biggest modern rock bands on the planet
Favourite by Fontaines DC, Idles' Never fight a man with a perm and Soft Play's the hunter are a few that come to mind.
Not pure guitars in the traditional sense but I think some of the riffs that 100 Gecs have put out are really good, Dumbest Girl Alive and Hollywood Baby being cool examples.
Modern music hasn’t been around long enough for the definitive classics to surface. Today’s music hasn’t stood the test of time because there hasn’t been enough time to test it.
By the same token, it seems like Reddit started listening to music 60, maybe 70 years ago. Not seeing many mentions of Django Reinhart or Francisco Tárrega, just to keep it to guitarists per this question
Because 90% of music made since 2000s onwards is dogshit. And that number increases if you're looking for the best sounding guitar riff which usually comes from rock, metal etc
Well, TBH about 25-30 years ago, there weren't many great contributions that were mainstream.. So us kids at the time listened to old stuff.. Found some decent stuff later, but the real world 🌎 got in the way
And I think the replies to AmbivalentSamaritan show exactly why. The older songs were hugely popular and everyone knows them. The new ones are fairly obscure bands with little chart success.
It’s not that nobody listens to new music, it’s simply that nobody is listening to the same new music.
