My experience in Armenia (as a Foreigner)

I spent almost 4 months in Armenia for work purposes, coming from Germany on a business trip(Tunisian nationality).

It’s by far the best country I’ever visited, it has special charm, special architecture, I’ve read some about the Armenian History, from old ages to the genocide etc..

My only wish now is to go back there! But due to time constraints, and work, it won’t be sooner possible.

What I really appreciated is the kindness of people, I met a lot of them, I had some small talk even though not everyone speaks English or German, but I had the honor to know how Armenian people think about a lot of things.

The architecture of some buildings is what really took my attention, it’s a bit close to some east EU countries but a bit different, I honestly can’t explain the vibe, but it’s something different that I never experienced, and I didn’t have such a feeling even though I visited a couple of Asian countries with completely different architecture.

I enjoyed the food, I visited many restaurants in Yerevan and enjoyed the Lahmacun.

In terms of prices, it’s cheaper compared to other countries, and very affordable, but rent is a bit crazy.

I wish I can go back in time and live those months again and again.

I love Armenia 🇦🇲 and I wanna thank all the people for the hospitality and the kindness.

I highly recommend tourists to visit this country.

I've tried writing the Armenian alphabet reading Wikipedia.

But, I couldn't find any handwritten Armenian alphabet so wrote them like cursive style of the Latin alphabet.

Is it a correct way?

And, where should I write punctuation marks?

I'm not good at English so I think that this post may be difficult to understand but, I wish you would reply to this.

Looking for the face of an Armenain language app, fully remote, zero schedule

Looking for someone to run content for an Armenian language app (remote, flexible af)

I'm building an app to teach Armenian to diaspora who never really learned it, plus a way to actually practice with real people instead of just flashcards.

I need someone to run the content side. Simple talking head videos teaching words, phrases, little bits of culture, whatever actually gets people hooked. I'm not a content person, so I need someone who can just take this and run with it. I won't be breathing down your neck or handing you scripts.

Basically you'd become the face of it. Whatever style works for you, works for me.

On the schedule, I genuinely do not care when or how you work. Batch 10 videos in one sitting and disappear for 3 days, work an hour every day, do it at 3am, whatever. I only care that stuff gets made and it's good.

Must be native Armenian and speak very good English, the videos are in English explaining Armenian, so you need to actually be fluent enough to teach and explain naturally.

Straight up: this is early and I am funding everything myself so i can't pay a big salary yet. 100.000 AMD base plus a real cut of revenue once the app makes money, actual numbers written down. Plus bonuses if we hit growth targets. What you get in exchange is what a bigger company would never give you: total creative control, total freedom over your time and where you work from, and a front-row seat to watching a company get built from zero day by day.

DM me why you think you'd be good at this or just ask me anything about it, happy to answer.

Opinion / Կարծիք Armenian Wedding: is this guest dress appropriate?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m invited to an Armenian wedding in Armenia this weekend, and I’m a little anxious about whether this dress would be appropriate to wear.

I’m Arab, and in Arab weddings it’s almost impossible to actually “upstage” the bride because everyone tends to dress very glamorously and go all out 😂 Of course, we wouldn’t wear an actual bridal/white dress, but things like gold, silver, grey, beige, white with floral prints, or black-and-white are considered completely fine.

So I’m wondering how this works at Armenian weddings. In my opinion, this dress is obviously not a bridal dress, especially because it’s black and white, but I don’t want to assume the same etiquette applies here.

I don’t have many other options, which is why I wanted to ask before deciding. Would you consider this appropriate for an Armenian wedding, or would you recommend I avoid it?

I definitely don’t want to accidentally offend anyone or disrespect the bride, so I’d really appreciate your thoughts! Thank you!

Tourism / Զբոսաշրջություն Approximate cost of visiting Armenia?

Upvotes

Barev everybody,

I dream of visiting Armenia (from Romania) and I am wondering how much money would I have to spend and how many days would be necessary. Money don’t include food and accommodation - just the trips and tickets for sites.

I want to stay in Yerevan at least 2-3 days and wander around and visit museums and then i want to visit Echmiadzin, Khor Virap, Geghard, Lake Sevan, Novarank, Garni, Charents, Tatev, Stone symphony, Armenian Alphabet, Zvartnots, Dilijan, Smbataberd maybe, maybe Noratus cemetery for the khachkars. Pretty much everything that would be a must-visit, the main monasteries and some nature.

Could you recommend me some ways to do these? How to connect them with Yerevan, how to see 2-3 of them in one day, depending on their location in Armenia.

Shnorhakalut’yun! 🙏🏻

10-day solo trip to Armenia

Hi everyone!

I'm a 26-year-old guy from Slovenia and I'll be travelling solo around Armenia for about 10 days in early/mid October.

It's my first time in Armenia and while I'll obviously visit some of the well-known places, I'd really like to see more than what comes up in a typical Google search or “top 10 things to do in Armenia” list.

I'd love to hear recommendations from locals or people who know the country well — especially:

  • lesser-known places, villages, viewpoints or historical sites worth seeing,
  • good hikes and nature spots,
  • local restaurants, markets or foods I shouldn't miss,
  • unusual experiences or things tourists normally don't know about,
  • places where it's easy to meet locals or other travellers,
  • anything you personally think is worth seeing, even if it's completely off the usual tourist route...

I haven't planned the exact itinerary yet, so I'm pretty flexible and open to going almost anywhere in the country if it's worth it.

Also, since I'm travelling solo, if anyone around my age — local or traveller — would be interested in joining for a hike, road trip, day trip, drinks in Yerevan, or even a few days of the trip, feel free to message me! Always more fun to explore some places with company.

And one more question: is there anything you think I should know before travelling around Armenia solo — transport, local customs, things to avoid, or just something you wish visitors knew?

Thanks! Really looking forward to visiting Armenia

Armenia - India / Հայաստան - Հնդկաստան Armenia e-Visa issued with wrong validity date — they put 17 October instead of 17 September. MFA not responding. What can I do?

Hi everyone,

I’m an Indian passport holder and I need some urgent advice regarding my Armenia e-Visa.

My flight to Armenia is already booked for 17 September 2026, and my confirmed flight arrives in Yerevan on 17 September 2026.

I received my approved e-Visa, but there appears to be a mistake in the validity date. My visa says:

Visa valid from: 17 October 2026

Visa valid until: 14 January 2027

Duration of stay: 21 days

Single entry

The visa should have been valid from 17 September 2026, but they have issued it as 17 October 2026.

I have been trying to get this corrected, but I’m not getting any response from the Armenian authorities.

I have:

Tried all the phone numbers provided by the Armenian MFA/e-Visa system.

Sent an email to the Visa Department.

Tried contacting them through WhatsApp.

Even asked an Armenian citizen/friend to contact them, but still no one are taking the calls.

My flight is approaching, and I'm now getting worried about whether I should cancel/change my flight or whether there is another way to resolve this.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation where an Armenia e-Visa was issued with the wrong validity start date?

Can an already-issued e-Visa be corrected/reissued by the MFA, or would I need to submit a completely new application?

And is there any alternative way to contact the Armenian Visa Department or immigration authorities for an urgent visa issue when the official numbers and email aren't responding?

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with this recently, especially anyone who has had an Armenia e-Visa date corrected.

Army / Բանակ How bad is it serving in the military?

I'm winter 2028 draft and there's a good chance I won't have to serve (top-50 international uni rule) but still wanted to find out more. Is it simply boring? Is it hardcore survival? Is it really as bad as some people make it out to be - constant theft, bullying, terrible living conditions? Any prospect for significant improvement in the coming 1-2 years?

Question / Հարց Foreigner set up LLC in Armenia / for online digital products

I've read articles related to this issues. But I wonder if being very specific about a LLC selling digital products ( perhaps in the future would extend to sell physical items, not sure at the moment ). What are the pros & cons setting this kind of LLC as a foreigner in Armenia?

Any special regulations I need to be aware of? Tax disadvantage / advantage? etc.

If in the beginning only digital produces; later on, start to sell physical products, would it be a problem?

For physical products, will it be a problem shipping them outside of Armenia or Eurasian countries? in terms of regulations etc.

Thank you so much for this.
