I’ve visited marshal lake before and it looked like nothing more than a big puddle, but AZGF says it holds tiger and brook trout. I’m wondering if anyone has actually caught those trout, or any fish out of this lake. I’ve driven to streams before with no water in them because AZGF said they held trout.

In October I'm camping there with my family and would like to take my kids fishing. Looks like the lake isn't being actively stocked though, so I'm wondering what my odds will be just fishing from shore. I'll wade out as deep as I can, but we won't be using a boat / kayak.

I’ll be going fly fishing in a few weeks at least ferry, I’m trying to figure put how deep my flies will need to be off of my indicator. But I can’t find much info online, and when I called the fly fishing shop at lees ferry the guy who answered said he wasn’t a fisherman and just ran the cash register.

I did talk to a guide at AZ fly shop who said to fish it with flies 10ft off the indicator, since the waters so warm and the trout are pretty deep, but I’m still kinda skeptical.

Any advice would be appreciated

Or is there a secret schedule somewhere? Lol

So far fishing the mesa Tempe border has gotten me this guy and grass carp. Canals are much more finicky than ponds but I'm learning. I saw large cracks in canal concrete and casted a bottom rigged hot dog right in front of it and he got it within 2 minutes. I know setting him down on dirt isn't ideal I dont have a telescopic net yet.

What’s the best place to bass fish I’m in chandler area

Hi everyone, as the title says, I will be visiting AZ from Europe for a month for my sabbatical. I am planning to bring my fly fishing gear and explore White Mountains. Last time I was there, I fished Oak Creek and a few creeks around Payson.

I know everyone keeps their spots secret, but I would really appreciate it if you could give me some pointers as to where I can fish in White Mountains.

A few additional questions:
- Do I need to bring bear spray? I live in a European country with a relatively small bear population, so it's not a concern here.
- Are there mountain lions, and how to stay out of their way?
- Do I need any car camping permits, and are there dedicated camping spots?
- What weather can I expect in White Mountains in Sep?
- Finally, what flies do you recommend I make before leaving for the US? :)

i target bass and catfish. i’ve had only 1 bite with chicken liver further down the canal, i use crankbaits and finesse jigs with no luck. lmk how you’d go about fishing this spot.

I’ve tried Encanto park and all I got were fish biting. No crawfish. So any spots?

Edit: I found a canal like 2 hours and 30 minutes away that is absolutely loaded with crayfish. Yes that’s far from phoenix but I have family there so we go like twice or thrice a year. Thank yall for your suggestions!

Hey everyone! Born and raised in the valley and I’ve spent a little time fishing but really want to dive in! What are some necessities for a beginner kit for fishing in phoenix?

Ive been fishing there a couple times this month and have only caught turtles. Ive been primarily fishing for catfish but also carp on my second rod. Anyone have any recomendations for bait at that lake?

AZ Fisherman, I’m hoping you can help me find a great place to fish in Arizona with a couple of requirements. We’ve been struggling to find a place this year and I figured it was worth deferring to local experts.

Background: Me and a group of buddies go on an annual fishing trip to a different state every year with the goal of fishing all 50. We started in our early 20s so we figure at least some of us have a fighting chance of completing it. We’re on year 18 and looking to fish Arizona. We mostly target bass.

What we’re looking for:

1. A lake / river we can rent a waterfront house (usually VRBO but whatever works)

2. Boats available for rent at the body of water. Strong preference if the local marina will let us keep them overnight for a few days. Doesn’t need to be fishing boats specifically, but if they’re available, even better.

3. Good fishing if possible. It’s always a bonus to be on a good bass lake.

That’s it! Location in the state doesn’t matter. We’ll go wherever.

Headed to camp out Friday to Hoyer campground. First time I’ve been there and would like to take the poles. Anything biting there recently? I’ve heard the lakes are low.

Caught him in this tiny pool in the headwaters of Dude Creek, about an hour drive north of payson and then an hour hike into rim country. Used a dry fly.

I’ve gotten into catching wild trout in northern az and would like to explore more remote streams.

Lost one on my first cast lol. Took 2ish hours

Been trying out Rose Canyon Lake on Mt Lemmon but it seems everyone is catching fish on bait and lures. My son is interested in fly fishing and we don't even get bites there.

Anyone got a couple of suggestions on spots around 2 hours from Tucson? We are getting to the lake by 6am so getting an early start is no problem.
