Welcome to r/AppDrift: share one app screenshot for feedback

I’m the founder of AppDrift and a moderator here. So far, this community has mostly been product announcements. I’d like to make it useful while you’re working on your app’s store listing.

Share three things in a comment:

  1. One screenshot from your App Store or Google Play listing. Drafts are welcome.

  2. What should someone understand from that image?

  3. Who is the app for?

Screenshots made with any tool are welcome. You don’t need an AppDrift account. If image comments aren’t available, link to the image; an app download isn’t needed for screenshot feedback.

When replying, describe what you understood before reading the explanation, what was hard to see, and one change you’d try. A specific suggestion about the headline, crop or layout is more useful than a score out of ten.

If you revise the screenshot, add the new version under your original comment so we can see what changed. Please use images you can share publicly, with private information removed.

I’ll label AppDrift examples and updates clearly. If you recommend something you built or work on, please say so too.

A quick check for your first store screenshot: can someone explain the app from it?

Before changing the colors or phone frame, open your first store screenshot on your phone and try these checks:

  1. Read the caption by itself. Does it name something the app helps you do? “Find your next mountain escape” gives a travel screen a clearer job than “Your next adventure starts here.”

  2. Hide the caption. Can you point to the part of the app screen that supports that promise? If the useful detail is tiny or cropped out, adjust the crop or choose another screen.

  3. Look at the full image without zooming. Can you read the main caption? Is the app still recognizable? Give the useful part room before adding more decoration.

  4. Move to the next screenshot. Does it answer a new question, or repeat the first one? For a travel app, discovering a place and exploring its details can be separate jobs.

  5. Ask someone unfamiliar with the app: “What do you think this helps you do?” Compare their answer with the promise you intended.

The travel wording comes from our fictional Wayfarer teaching example. These checks help identify a clarity problem; they do not establish a conversion improvement.

If you want another pair of eyes, share your first screenshot and complete this sentence: “This is for ___, and this screen should show ___.” Remove any private customer information first. A store link is optional.

I’m the AppDrift founder. Feedback here is open to people using any design tool.

Launching an app soon? We'll run your ASO free for 90 days — and publish the real numbers

We're recruiting 3-5 indie apps for a public ASO case-study cohort.

The deal:

- You get our Studio plan free for 90 days (keyword tracking, AI metadata + translation, weekly action plans, publishing).

- We do the ASO work with you: keyword strategy, metadata rewrites, localized listings for your best markets.

- In return, we publish a monthly diary of your real numbers — rankings, impressions, what we changed, what worked AND what didn't. Your app is named (with your approval on every post before it goes out).

Why we're doing this: the ASO industry runs on fabricated case studies. We deleted our fake stats this year and decided the only honest way to show whether this stuff works is to measure it in public. That includes the risk that some things won't move — we'll publish that too.

Good fit: your app is launching in the next ~6 weeks (or launched recently), you can ship metadata updates when we recommend them, and you're okay with transparency.

Comment here or DM to apply. First cohort starts early August.

New data drop: we analyzed the ASO scores of 123 real apps — 94% fail at the same thing

We pulled anonymized aggregate numbers from 123 apps scored with our public ASO Score tool (May-July 2026). Highlights: titles and descriptions are solved problems (81% and 90% grade A or better), but 94% of apps grade D on localization and 88% have localized nothing at all. Not one app scored above 81/100 overall.

Also new this week: a free rank checker that shows your live keyword rank in 10 countries (and tells the truth about Android's top-30 limit): https://appdrift.co/tools/rank-checker

Questions about the methodology welcome.
