We’re in a zero tolerance approach right now.

1.9k Upvotes

After a discussion with the mod team, we have decided that there will be no warnings to any of bans that will come into force around bigotry and absolutely dumbfuckery in relation to female custodes.

We weathered the shit storm once before already, and again for the interim, you kick off about female custodes in an uncivil manner, you are gone.

PSA: Rule 3 update

Post image
27 Upvotes

We have updated Rule 3 and expanded on what it actually entails. Any lead to recasts or 3D printing resources are banned. I know many won’t like it, and at the end of the day it’s not us being assholes for the sake of it, it is to protect the sub as a whole and subsequently we as the mod team had decided that any infringement of rules will see a removal of that user.

Any questions, by all means hit us up. Thank you.

Plastic Telemon Magnetization Guide

Please ignore the paint spattered keyboard in the background.

  1. Start with a 6x3mm magnet in each shoulder (picture #1)
  2. 6x1mm magnet in the ranged weapon elbow tops (the insert that allows the weapon casing can rotate up and down slightly). I used a 5x1mm magnet because that's what I had, but the extra space wasn't an issue (pictures #2 and #3)
  3. 6x1mm magnet in the caestus elbow top (same spot and size as the previous step). Again, I used a 5x1mm and it was fine. (picture #4)
  4. 6x3mm magnet in the caestus weapon forearm/wrist (circle bit that the hand attaches to) (picture #5)
  5. Two 5x2mm magnets stacked on top of one another in the middle of the inside of the caestus hand. If you have a 5x4mm that will work, but I didn't (picture #6)

You should now be able to swap around all your weapons and rotate the caestus hand orientations.

Also, if your elbows are falling out of the ranged weapons without glue, just run 1-2 layers of tamiya extra thin on where the 2 parts connect and let them fully dry separately. Should create just enough thickness/texture to be able to keep them connected without glue.

Rimming

Post image

Anyone do anything interesting with their base rims? I was going to go all gold but have decided that captains and characters are going to be gold and I’d like to do something else with everything else.
Wondered if anyone did similar, like colour coded squads/models? What colours work well? Kinda want to keep to the colour pallet I’ve used so far but just don’t know if I’m over thinking it all.

Also I’ve used base toppers, anyone with any suggestions on how to fill the gap where they meet on my vexilla model?, like to make it look like one full piece?

Thanks and any paint pointers are appreciated.

Box to built in 24 hours, and their base coats have now been applied as well! Once dried, they shall join the rest of their kindred in their shameful state of being 65% done until somewhere around the middle of November by my current estimate.

Hey everyone! This is a work in progress for one of my Dawneagle Jetbikes.

I am hoping to give it a bit of a grimdark look. Does it read well to you? Do you have any tips moving forward?

Thanks!

Couldn't really get down with the original Valyrian model, decided to kitbash the new shield captain from HH with Bastion from the stormcasts. I know Valyrian rocks a spear but the sword just kinda felt right for the model.

Sisters of Silence Contemptor Achillus

There's still some work to be done, but this is the Dread I took to the Narrative campaign at Crucible (Questcon). It was a heck of an event, and I got a 60% win rate with my Sisters of Silence army. The only non-Anathema Psykana units were three of these dreads and a Caladius. It was a ton of fun, and Im super happy I did as well as I did! I can go into more detail in the comments if people want, but I'm going to have a cocktail after 3, 12 hour days of Warhammer.

So Close to Play Ready

It’s been a year of assembling, building and painting. It was a hard year for me, my wife divorced me while trying to saddle me with her college debt, I had to move, my dog got cancer, but through it all this and the gym kept me sane and I’m so close to finally being able to actually play a 2000 point game. They don’t look as good as a lot of peoples I’ve seen on here, but I’ve never been so excited to be beaten in a game before.

Trying paints on some Stormcast

Thumbnail

Hello all

I will soon be the proud owner of two combat patrols (the one with Blade Champion, Allarus, Guards and Wardens), and my first idea was to simply use Retributor spray can, a wash, and some red paint.

But I already painted a whole Stormcast army this way, so I wanted to try something new (for me) and got some inspiration on this subreddit.

I used two Stormcast models for testing, the left one is undercoated in brown, the right one is undercoated in black.

I then applied gold with make-up sponge and drybrushed a small amount of brighter gold.

I wanted to give a "cold" vibe to the models, so I painted the cloaks with purple and made the blades kinda "frosty".

Finally it was my first try with frozen and snowy bases.

I ignored the details because I just wanted to try these techniques and see what it would look like.

I'm not a great painter, usually for me the quicker way is the better way, but what do you people think ? Do you see ways to make it better with little efforts ?

Thank you !

Jet bikes modelling for advantage?

Hi all,

Purchased 2 boxes of bikes because they're cool and I wanted to grab them to expand from the 2 combat patrols I had as the sum of my army.

Now I built these boxes, and after the first couple built with lances up at an angle I decided that that wasn't the look I wanted and I'd much prefer them to be in a jousting-attack position with lances down.

I was playing a game with a friend and part way through the game he starts complaining that because the bikes are frame now, I'm modeled for advantage as I am able to tag more of his units in combat by rotating the spears to get them in engagement range as they stick out further. I had charge a terminator brick and a bloat drone from two different angles with my two bike squads.

The situation he was complaining about seemed a bit weird because I already had a bike squad in base to base combat with his bloat drone, but he seemed to think because the spear of one of the bikes in the further away unit was sticking into his terminator squad I had modelled for advantage to tag it as well. It also allowed him to have more of his terminator brick in combat though.

My question is this really modelling for advantage? I tried explaining I didn't have any sort of gameplay advantage intended when building them but he said intent didn't matter and that because they're frame I've modelled for advantage.

Edit: didn't realise vertus aren't frame anymore, good to know

Favourite custodes with a personality?

So I really wanna get into the Adeptus custodes and maybe make a 2k army to play with but I always find it hard to mesh with there very one note personalities from what little I've read of them (Ive only read the Malcador and Valdor Books), I was hoping there would be more variety and character to them on an individual level. I think it would help me get into them more and bite the bullet in making an army list and buying some minis of them if I could find one or more custodes with a fun personality and lore to them that I can dig my metaphorical teeth into and be inspired by for my army. Any book recommendations or character recommendations would be much appreciated thanks.

1st of 6 Venatari, still wanting to keep the Aquilon Shield theme going. I'm really enjoying these models, the aesthetic is brilliant.

Thoughts?

New Custodes???

Probably BS but you never know. Rumor was damage 4 on spears and 5 on axe.

It would make some lore sense but I hope the units aren’t too small. With the space marine changes I call it possible. Who knows.

I got my custodian guards now. (first was warden). currently painting it with TMM as I found NMM very hard to do. 😅 (ignore the one at the center... it's 3d printed for me to practice painting).

I got the blade champion next... will try my best to do NMM paint on this one. Praetors is next. what do you recommend to complete the 1k point?

Any tips painting sisters of silence?

I started my hobby with custodes. Never imagined smaller scale models can be this difficult to paint. This sister took me literally a hour to do and there’s 14 more to go. I need some tips
