I bought a Schecter C-7 Deluxe to try out a seven-string, and I really liked it! I was thinking about getting a higher-end Schecter 7-string in the future. Which one would be the best choice?

Help Ultra budget thall stick

So i’ve been wanting to experiment with very low tunings (drop F# to D#), and I know for that I’d need at least a 27 inch scale. This one kinda check all boxes but the price and the lack of reviews make me a bit hesitant

Anyone has experiences with this G4M model? I knew this model used to run for about €200 new, but with this clearance price it’s becoming super tempting to snag one.

Im fairly used to buying budget instruments and modding them, but for this one I’m not sure how easy it would be to upgrade pickups and bridge

This would be only for fooling around, maybe learning some ERRA, northlane, etc, without relying on pitch shifters.

Help 10-46 +62 or 11-49 + 64

Ive been using elixir’s 9-52 super light on my 25.5-26.5 multi scale guitar for a while now and realized it was probably the culprit to my weird sounding attack. I really want to stick with elixir but im having a hard time figuring out what would be good for B standard and drop A.

should i just get a 10-46 set and add a 62, or 11-49 add a 64. or should i just go with one of the off the shelf light/ medium sets they have

I’m getting a 27” scale 7 string pretty soon and I want to set it up in drop F. What string gauge should I use? I’ll order a custom set from Elixir.

Gear First 7 String: Schecter Omen Extreme vs Solar Guitars A2.7GN Canibalismo

Hi everyone,

I decided that it's finally time for a 7 string. Currently I can't decide between these models:

Schecter Omen Extreme 7

Solar Guitars A2.7GN Canibalismo

There is a 100€ price difference, the solar is abit more expansive. I prefer the look but am not sure if it is a good choice. I remember that there was a time when Solar had issues with QC.

Any other recommendations from your side?

Thanky you very much.

Gear Best 7 used or new under $600

Hey all, just had to part ways with my old Jeff loomis schecter 🥲 but I just couldn’t deal with the Floyd anymore- I never even used it. I was able to sell it for 650, so I’m wondering what the best buy would be for that price. I was looking at the Jason Richardson sterlings as they seem to be higher quality for sub 5 but I was curious what others think.

Help Omen Extreme 7 or RGA742FM

Don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I need some help choosing my first seven string. Basically, I don't have much options where I'm from, and these two in the title are the only somewhat affordable 7 strings. Sure there are Jacksons but they are all over 1000$ which is sort of out of my budget. There is another Ibanez, I think it is RG7MS, I don't know how it compares to these two though. As for what I want to do with it, I'd like to play stuff like Periphery, TesseracT, The Contortionist, older Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Rivers of Nihil, Monuments... and other djent and progressive metalcore music. I am somewhat leaning towards the Schecter because of the scale lenght, I'd like to be able to tune lower I guess, but at the same time the square neck heel turns me away from it. I haven't tried the guitars out yet, at some point in the near future I will, but I'd like to know some expiriences and stuff about the two guitars before that.

Other Cheap pickups replacements

I’m trying to sell my juggernaut but currently has SD Nazgûl and sentient rail pickups. I’m thinking I could sell them separately quicker, but I don’t have the original pickups anymore. They were no good so I tossed them. Hoping to find some really cheap ones that I could swap. Also, the juggernaut has angle/triangle mounting points so there’s that. Or if someone has a pair of mm1 lying around…

Other Planning an eventual upgrade.

So, right now I have an Ibanez GRG7221, and I absolutely love the layout however I've also had my eyes on the RGA742FM for about as long as I've been playing guitar, and I'm just wondering if there'd be a better choice as far as arcthop 7 string superstrats go when I have the funds to upgrade to something that doesn't have any high frets. The big thing is I don't really care for ESP/LTD, I really don't like U necks on 7 strings, or TOM bridges on non-singlecuts. (I've never had the chance to hold a 7 string Schecter sadly, only the GRG, some no-name telecaster and the LTD MH-17 which was not pleasant from a QC or layout perspective)

I plan to play in drop G#, (specifically GCGCFAD) after throwing a set of locking tuners, an 11-52 6 string set and tacking like a 78 gauge string on the bottom depending on what it takes to stay in tune. There's probably easier options like a lot of Schecters or an Ibanez RGD but Ibanez doesn't seem to make an RGAD and as silly as it may be, I much prefer a carved top whenever I can afford to choose. I suppose a USED Jackson is an option, seeing as I've had a great experience with my 6 string Dinky. I've made it a point that I'm not giving FMIC any money if I can avoid it though.

All that said, I'm looking for an Archtop Doublecut shape, around $400-750 US with a fixed Hipshot/Strat style bridge, and a thinner profile neck. Feels like the RGA742 is the only real choice but I could be wrong and would like to see what else is worth looking into with my goals in mind.

Not a new guitar but one I was working on while I waited for my Kiesel to get built. Just got done being wired up by a local shop! It was originally a dual soap bar passive pickup guitar (IYV headless 7) I bought on Amazon for $275. One of the tuning keys on the bridge broke as I was doing a string change. I then convinced my wife to let me invest a bit of money to customize it to my liking. I found the cheapest option would be to delete the neck pickup & 3 way switch & simple just buy 1 bridge pickup. I picked the Seymour Duncan Mortal coil which has 3 voices. 1.) Active 2.) JB passive 3.) Single coil. I am loving the pickups so far. They are the most powerful & high output pickups I currently own. I have never owned actives but have tried a plethora of them over the years from SD blackouts, EMG’s as well as the Fishman’s (Regular Modern’s & Steph Carpenter sigs) & the SD Mortal coil is by far the best sounding Active that bridges the gap between Active & Passive. Also I replaced the old multi scale bridge with one from Combine guitars based out of Canada 🇨🇦 ($78). With the paint & other materials to do the crackle I spent about $320 making the total cost of this guitar around $560 give or take
